  1. Erosion: Landslide
    • We watched the movie Erosion: Landslide, answered the questions (Erosion- Landslide Video Worksheet.doc), and made a list of the types of mass movements.  These included:
      • Slumps - the most economically devestating type of mass movement
      • Landslide - the most physically devestating type of mass movement
      • Avalanche - doesn't really count as it is made of snow, rather than dirt; still caused by gravity and water though
      • Debris flows
      • Lahars - volcanic mudslides
      • Rock slides
  2. Homework:
    • Finish 12.2 Fossil Notes (Fossils.xls) - due Wednesday
    • Lab Report - due Monday, October 19

Friday, September 18, 2009 - Day 13

  1. It's Elementary
    • This is the last day to work on these in class.
    • Everyone who had started their page had a comment waiting for them at the beginning of class.
    • Here are some more helpful tips:
      •

      • Tables:
        • Put your cursor where you want your table.
        • Click on the table button (right next to the link button)
        • Choose the number of rows and columns you want.
          • I usually select 1 row and 1 column.  This works well for framing pictures or making an area for text that is different from the rest of the page.
          • You could try 1 row and 2 columns if you want to put two pictures of similar size (one in each cell)
        • Choose the alignment you want.
        • Click okay.
        • Your table will be on your screen with a faint gray border and a white background.  It may be hard for you to see.
        • Ctrl + Click on the table.
        • Select Cell from the menu followed by Cell Properties from the next menu.
        • Select the background color you like.
        • You can also select a border color.  The border is very narrow and will not show up well.
        • Click okay.
        •

      • Making additions to your table:
        • Adding a picture:
          • Upload your picture as detailed on yesterday's agenda.
          • Click on the table so your see your cursor in it.
          • Click on the name of your picture.
          • Resize your picture and your table until you are happy with it.
        • Adding text:
          • Click on the table so you see your cursor in it.
          • Type.
          • Change the color and size of the text as you wish.
          •

      • Subscript (AKA the Little Number - lower level):
        • Click on the source button
        • Find the place you want to put your subscript.
        • Type or paste in the following:
          • ___
        • The blank should be filled in with the number you want to be in subscript.
        • Click on source again
        • Look at your page to make sure the number is in the right place
        • Don't forget to save your page
        •

      • Find where Located on Bells and Whistles:
        • Changing the background color

        • Save the picture to the desktop (so it is easy to find)
