-Fujiyama is also known as Fuji-san or Fujino Yama

-Is the tallest mountain in Japan

-The mountains name means "everlasting life"

-Has become the sacred symbol of Japan

-Thousands of people hike to the shrine at its peak

-On the northern slopes there are 5 lakes created by the damming of rain water by lava flows

-Around the crater there are actually 8 different peaks

-About 200,000 tourists visit Fujiyama each year

-Its highest recorded temperature is 18.2 degrees Celsius
